The company’s automobile division was operating quite successfully, but the motors division began suffering. In 1998, Vickers decided to sell Rolls-Royce Motors. BMW made an offer of £340m, but it was outbid by the Volkswagen Group, which bid £430m. As part of the deal, Volkswagen gained complete control of Rolls-Royce and its Crewe factory.
However, since Volkswagen didn’t have the rights to build cars under the Rolls-Royce name, the situation later skewed towards BMW and after many negotiation meetings, both companies finally arrived at a solution. Therefore, the Rolls-Royce Motor Car Limited was founded and by 2003, BMW was able to name its cars ‘Rolls-Royce” and the former Bentley/Rolls-Royce division came under Volkswagen’s control.
A year later, Rolls-Royce reintroduced the Phantom, which was the first model from the Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Limited. By 2008, the Phantom Drophead Coupe was also introduced and released numerous famous models, including the Wraith, Ghost, and Silver Seraph.

Over the years of blogging about cars I have come to realize that VW integrated into so many brands...

The  Bugatti Model 100  was a purpose built  air racer  designed to compete in the 1939  Deutsch de la Meurthe Cup Race . The aircraft was not completed by the September 1939 deadline and was put in storage prior to the  German invasion of France . Ettore Bugatti  started work in 1938 to design a racer to compete in the Deutsch de la Meurthe Cup Race, using engines sold in his automotive line for co-marketing. Bugatti's chief engineer was  Louis de Monge , with whom Bugatti had worked before. Bugatti was also approached by the French Government to use the technology of the racing aircraft to develop a fighter variant for mass production. The aircraft was the source of five modern patents including the inline engines, V tail mixer controls, and the automatic flap system. Racing must have been in his blood, never knew the planes Bugatti made were for that purpose, I had heard about certain things with it for WW2 and I knew about the trains.....

It was inevitable, but that makes it no less exciting; Nissan’s electric car march is breeding performance cars, and the first could be this Leaf Nismo. We say  could  because it’s officially a concept. It’s been previewed in this image and will be shown in full at the Tokyo motor show in a couple of weeks. If Nissan gets a sufficiently positive response, the car will get made. You know what to do, then. And it looks production ready, doesn’t it? The interior is as per a standard Leaf, just with fancy red accents, and there’s not a 23in rim nor wing mirror camera to be seen. It’s as light as ‘concept’ treatment gets. “We’ve been testing the market for some time,” Nissan’s Europe president Paul Willcox told Top Gear. “We had RC Leaf and Bladeglider.
